Which area are you referring to? Because there's no way you actually think Dave is a better rhythm player or riff writer.Black Rider wrote: dude, your hero worship is clouding your mind.

Re: James Hetfield vs. Dave Mustaine
Only thing I'd change is songwriting and vocals, Dave's overall body of work is better than James imo and I like his riffs better but James has a better voice.

Dave is a far better player than James, even Het had said that in the past.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:Which area are you referring to? Because there's no way you actually think Dave is a better rhythm player or riff writer.Black Rider wrote: dude, your hero worship is clouding your mind.

I enjoy Dave's vocals but James is far better.

Re: James Hetfield vs. Dave Mustaine
I think Dave’s vocals are really good in the 90s. They were pretty rough in the 80s and they’ve dropped off in recent years. But James also gave us St. Anger, so…

I'm curious what you're basing this on, CTR, since you're not allowed to listen to Megadeth

I can listen to UA and TSHF and I'm familiar with RIP and CTE pretty well.

In before Kerrick comes to say that Kerry King is better than both of them combined.

I really like both (I'm a huge Megadeth fan as well), but I personally prefer Hetfield.
They're just different.
I'm almost exclusively a rhythm player and my style was based on Hetfield's precision-based approach.
When listening to music, I automatically follow the rhythm guitar and am more open to "melody lines" as opposed to traditional soloing.
A solo has to be really good to keep my attention, as I'm usually focused on a song's riffing and arrangements above all else.
Considering all of those things, it's Hetfield for me.

I'm not sure about that. Dave started as being super explicit and at times against Christianity. Then at some point he randomly stopped cussing a ton, and after TSHF he was christian.StevenCressler wrote:Rhythm: Dave

It's close, but I still think Dave is better. Both are probably way better than I ever will be though.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:Also you guys really think that Dave's rhythm playing is better than James?
Re: James Hetfield vs. Dave Mustaine
True... I do dislike the blasphemous/satanic lyrics on songs like Looking Down the Cross or Conjuring much more than the stupid lyrics on most of St. Anger. I just know that AJFA has some of the best lyrics I know.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:I'm not sure about that. Dave started as being super explicit and at times against Christianity. Re: James Hetfield vs. Dave Mustaine
I'm gonna have all my main album tracks be originals (aside from a few hymn covers, but I'm still writing the riffs myself) but I want to make some side albums where I rework songs I like to sound like I wrote them, which could be a very minor reworking if it's something from Deliverance or a big reworking if it's Holy Soldier.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:lol.
